T.A.B hosts escape rooms for Howdy Week

T.A.B hosts escape rooms for Howdy Week

For Tarleton State University’s fall 2022 Howdy Week, the Tarleton Activities Board (T.A.B) will host escape rooms on Aug. 22 in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center ballrooms.

“Tarleton Activities Board was tasked with trying to change up Howdy Week. We wanted to bring in something new that would be entertaining to students,” T.A.B Advisor Jonathan Mendoza said.

Four escape rooms will be featured, each with a unique design. Themes include CSI, Secret Admirer, Zombie and Time Traveler.

“I think it will be beneficial because it allows students to come out and work together to ‘escape’ the room,” Mendoza said. “Even if you show up alone we will put you in a group and you can make new friends and memories while at Tarleton.”

Though this is the first year Tarleton will have escape rooms for Howdy Week, according to Mendoza, this may not be the last time this event takes place.

“If we have a good turnout and good feedback we will most likely bring the escape rooms back,” he said.

Along with the escape rooms, other events throughout the week include DJ on the Lawn, Tour of Stephenville, Sundaes on Sunday with the Hurleys, Texan Bingo, The Big Feed, Faith Fair, Black Student Union Cookout, Taste of Stephenville and Movie on the Lawn.

Meet the Greek will also return this semester. According to Executive Director of Student Affairs, Outreach, Fraternity and Sorority Life Darrell Brown, all 17 Greek organizations at Tarleton are invited to the event.

“Meet the Greeks provides students an opportunity to interact and be introduced to our Greek community representatives. There will be free food, games and music,” Brown said.

Students can use the activities of this week to learn about Stephenville, discover Tarleton organizations and meet new people.

Howdy Week officially concludes on Aug. 25 after one full week of classes.
